Simon talks wedding

'A merican Idol's" master of the bluntness turned shy when talking about his engagement.

Simon Cowell blushed and started to sweat when Jay Leno asked him if rumors of his engagement to "Idol" makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy were true during Monday night's episode of "The Tonight Show."

"I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes," Cowell said. "I kind of made a decision this year to make somebody happy."

That was about as close to answering the question as the normally forthright judge got.

Teased by Leno, Cowell admitted that "I find it quite uncomfortable talking about my personal life like that."

When pressed for details of the proposal, Cowell joked that he "was asleep." He did admit to buying Hussainy a ring in London, though -- the enormous diamond ring that sparked the engagement rumors when it was spotted on her ring finger after a Valentine's Day dinner in London last month.

All Cowell would say about a wedding date was that it was likely to happen "within the next 10 years."

As for kids, Cowell said, "I'm kind of torn, because I'm a bit too old to have kids, but then again, I think it would be important to have a lot of mes around in the future."
