Uncaring LeBron turned back on Cavaliers

It's downright lamentable, though outright predictable, not a single soul belonging to LeBron James' wagon-circled, anarchy-free business unit was wise enough to persuade the Drama King to handle his final hours of free...

  • Upshot? King knows he can't win alone

What does it say about Le Bron James that he choose Miami? That the Unconquering Hero no longer believes in himself -- at least as far as being able to will a team to his first (of many) championships without help...

    Wade defection would kill Heat

Let’s get a little ahead of ourselves here. Say, Chris Bosh suddenly comes to his $enses and, as a willing adult, gives his consent to participate in the sign-and-trade arrangement essentially worked out between the...

Rich pitches by Knicks, Nets were complete non-cents

Lucky for Michael Jordan, Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf and his entrepreneurial entourage tutored him on how to make millions beyond what the Bulls paid him, otherwise he never would have become rich enough to buy the...

Cash likely keeps James in Cleveland

As the NBA begins its seducing season, the most sizzling summer in the league’s 64-year-old history, it’s important to be aware of an obscured truth relating to the fraternity of authentic Hall of Fame players who...

    Bol leaves giant legacy

Finals win helps Artest negate past

An hour or so following one of the most revolting blights in NBA history, the infamous Pacers-Pistons basket-brawl, Ron Artest and I exchanged several text messages. Our relationship had become almost exclusively father...

Bryant must seek help from Lakers teammates

While waiting for white smoke to billow from the roof of Tom Izzo's mouth, let's chat about the mundane matter of the Finals. So, who do you think sat next to Kobe Bryant on the Lakers' non-commercial flight to Los...

Lakers, Celtics need leading men to shine

Today's missive is spon sored by the letter "P" -- as in "Pivotal." If I had a buffalo head nickel for every time the word "pivotal" was/is used leading up tonight's Game 5, I would have doubled my investment in BP...

Wooden left his imprint on game of life

Bryant on Rondo could decide NBA Finals

Since the NBA failed to give me game action for Memorial Day (see "Massacre" at Boston Garden, circa 1985, and "Miracle" at the Alamodome in 1999), I shall dutifully look ahead to the Finals. Say this much for the...
